I. Colombia-Venezuela-Trinidad geological library
Accumulated during my 20+ years' (1990 onwards) consulting for oil companies and government institutes in Colombia, Venezuela and Trinidad, including three years in Caracas with Petróleos de Venezuela (Maraven), 1990-1993. The
collection comprises:
- published books, including the classic 'Geología de Venezuela ...' by González de Juana et al. 1980
- 'proceedings' volumes of conferences in Colombia, Venezuela and Trinidad (many unobtainable online?)
- hundreds of photocopied geological articles (published, unpublished), many of them in South American journals (many unavailable online?).
II. About fifty maps covering much of eastern and western Venezuela, including partial holdings of two series of 1:50,000 geological maps (Creole Petroleum, 1960s;
Ministry of Energy and Mines, 1960s-1980s).
III. Hundreds of geological outcrop photos (35mm slides) from Venezuela (Eastern Serranía, Andes de Mérida, Serranía de Trujillo) and Trinidad.
All photos are by Dr Roger Higgs, keyed to comprehensive field notes.
IV. Dozens of photos (35mm slides) of cores from oilfields in Venezuela (Maracaibo Basin), Colombia and Trinidad.
V. Two non-exclusive 2005 exploration reports, each originally marketed at US$40,000, bought by BHP and also by BP:
- Geological evolution of Venezuela-Trinidad reassessed: Protocaribbean-Caribbean foreland basins (Campanian to Recent) and Neogene wedge-top halite-dissolution basins.

- Trinidad & Gulf of Paria: "piggyback" halite-dissolution basins (11-0Ma) on a long-lived foreland-basin thrust belt (Campanian-Recent).
